# Outbound copy by signal type

Important: Cornersight gives you the person, their role and company, and what they engaged with. It gives email addresses only if you connect your own email finder. To email, connect one (in-app table integrations: LeadMagic, Prospeo, Findymail, Icypeas) or use Clay.

Variables used below: {first_name}, {company}, {creator}, {topic}, {keyword}, {competitor}, {post_theme}.

---

## The golden rule: reference the topic, not the click

Good: "Saw you've been following the conversation on {topic}."
Bad: "I saw you liked {creator}'s post at 3:14pm."

People like being seen as interested in a topic. They do not like being watched. Talk about the topic and why it matters to them.

**Never:**
1. Quote their like or comment back to them word for word.
2. Mention a competitor they engaged with by name in the first message.
3. Say "I noticed you" more than once.
4. Use engagement older than 30 days as the hook.

---

## First lines by signal

**1. Engaged with a creator in your space**
- "{first_name}, looks like {topic} is on your radar. Most {role}s I talk to are stuck on one part of it: [problem]."
- "Quick one on {topic}, since it seems to be something you're thinking about at {company}."

**2. Engaged with a competitor's post**
- "{first_name}, are you looking at ways to [outcome] at {company} right now?"
- "Comparing options for [category]? Happy to share what we see teams get wrong."
(Do not name the competitor.)

**3. Wrote a post about a problem (keyword match, author)**
- "Your post on {post_theme} hit home. We see the same thing with [type of company]."
- "Read your take on {post_theme}. One thing that helped a few teams like {company}: [one specific tip]."
(Authors expect replies. Here it is fine to mention the post.)

**4. Engaged with your own content**
- "Curious, is {topic} something you're working on at {company}? It came up in a post I wrote recently."
(Use the thank-you version only in a LinkedIn DM to someone who commented. In email, do not mention the engagement.)

**5. Engaged with a webinar or event post**
- "{first_name}, we're running a webinar on [date] on {topic}, specifically [angle]. Want the link?"

## 3-step email sequence (signal-led, evergreen)

**Email 1 (day 0)**
Subject: {topic} at {company}
```
Hi {first_name},
{signal first line}
We help [ICP] [outcome] by [how, in one line].
Worth a 15-minute look?
{sender}
[Company, address]
Not relevant? Reply "no" and I won't email again.
```

**Email 2 (day 3)**
Subject: {topic} example for {company}
```
{first_name}, one example: [customer type] used this to [specific result, only if verified].
If now is not the time, no problem. Just reply "later".
```

**Email 3 (day 7)**
Subject: close the loop?
```
{first_name}, I'll stop here. If {topic} becomes a priority, reply and I'll send over [resource].
```

Rule: only use a customer result if it is verified and the customer agreed to be named.

---

## LinkedIn connection notes (under 200 characters)

1. "Hi {first_name}, we're both in the {topic} conversation on here. Would be good to connect."
2. "{first_name}, enjoyed your post on {post_theme}. Connecting to follow your next ones."
3. "Hi {first_name}, I share what I learn about {topic} for [ICP]. Would be good to connect."
(Only use this if it is true for the sender.)

## LinkedIn DM after they accept

```
Thanks for connecting {first_name}.
Quick question: how are you handling [problem tied to topic] at {company} today?
Asking because [one honest line on why you care].
```

Follow-up (5 days later, only if no reply):
```
{first_name}, I put together [free resource] on {topic}. Want me to send it over?
```

## Channel rule
One channel per person per campaign. Do not email and DM the same person in the same cycle. Keep email and LinkedIn as separate groups so you can see which one works.

## Before you send: checklist
1. Is the signal under 30 days old?
2. Does the person match your ICP (role, company size, industry)?
3. Does the first line mention the topic, not the click?
4. Is every claim true and verified?
5. Is there one clear, small ask?
6. Does email 1 have an opt-out line and your company details? (Required in many countries, including the US and UK.)
7. Send one follow-up DM at most. No automated chasing after that.
